Top-notch coffee is only the beginning.

Platform 9 is a small-batch speciality coffee roaster, wholesaler, educator and supporter of our local coffee culture. Since 2011, we’ve been here to help café owners, baristas, the coffee serious and the coffee curious with all our coffee roasted, packed and sold under the one roof.

We provide a wide range of services, including sourcing equipment, alternative brewing gear and barista tools along with staff training and a mountain of support along the way. And because we love nothing more than sharing our passion for coffee, we also provide multi level coffee training for school groups, coffee businesses and home barista enthusiasts.

The crew behind the brew.

Glen and Julia, owners

We’re Glen and Julia. Platform 9 is a family-run business that’s allowed us to combine our backgrounds in hospitality and business.

Hospitality is full of energy, challenges, and heart—and we love being part of it. We’re here to support you with dependable service and coffee you can count on.

Some of Glen’s earliest coffee memories include regular visits to Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar with his Dad. Coffee was a constant source of nostalgia, with the old stovetop brewer bubbling away in the house as he grew up.

Glen holds CQI & SCA Q-Grader Certifications, the highest industry qualifications for assessing specialty coffee and Julia has a degree in economics.

Nikhil, brew bar manager

If you get the chance to visit our brew bar, you’ll likely meet Nikhil, our head barista who brings passion and precision to every cup.

His coffee journey kicked up a notch when he moved to Sydney from Nepal five years ago. He is always exploring ways to elevate a cup of coffee, from fine tuning the perfect espresso recipe to mastering the art of pour-over coffee.

Nikhil has snagged multiple first-place wins for his latte art and placed second at the Barista League in Sydney.

When he's not behind the Strada, you’ll can usually find Nikhil spending time with his wife and fur baby, May.

Charlotte, roastery assistant

Charlotte oversees everything dispatch-related in the roastery, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of online orders and coffee from the roastery to cafes, offices and everything in between.

From picking and packing coffee orders, to cleaning pails and bagging beans, she keeps everything humming seamlessly behind the scenes.

When she’s not hard at work (or downing an iced latte), you’ll find her searching for the perfect van—gearing up to hit the open road and explore.

Nathan, roastery manager

Meet Nathan, a guy with a passion for perfecting every roast. He also delivers barista training, equipping our domestic punters and wholesale accounts to get the best out of our coffee.

A runner-up at the Barista League Sydney, he brings expert knowledge, creativity, and a love for all things coffee to the roastery. When not roasting beans, you'll find Nath at the cupping table or sharing his coffee wisdom with anyone who’ll listen.

These days, if he’s not glued to the roasters and keenly watching the lines, you’ll find Nath spending time with his two boys or out in the shed tinkering with old coffee machines.

Rachel, barista

This is Rachel – our talented barista and all-around customer service pro. You’ll usually find her behind the brew bar, pouring your favourite coffee and making everyone feel right at home.

Rachel’s not just great with coffee - she’s also an avid baker. While most of us are still hitting snooze, she’s already in the kitchen, baking fresh treats for the brew bar each morning.

She grew up in a family bakery and has been sipping coffee long before most people her age knew what it was. Whether it’s coffee or treats, Rachel’s got you covered!
